Church Planting Leadership Issues
The bias of this course is praxis. It offers instruction in demographic research, community exegesis, and matching the shape of the emerging church to the community in which it will be planted. It investigates proven means of developing a small core of believers into a fully developed church, itself capable of planting new churches. It provides practical teaching in the area of leadership development in a church plant, nurturing stewardship in its many forms, and structuring a new church for effective ministry. The course explores various church planting models (i.e., classic daughtering, satellite, house churches). The "classroom" will be the actual settings in which churches are being planted; the instructors will include actual planters. Students will physically visit the sites where a diverse array of churches are being planted in response to contextual issues.
