Mission
The Doctor of Ministry (D.Min.) is the highest professional degree for men and women already successfully engaged in ministry. The focus of the ACTS D.Min. program in Leadership and Spiritual Formation is designed to enable Christian leaders to heighten their effectiveness as they probe and reflect upon the deeper dimensions of their own journey as leaders, gain competencies in effective leadership and are attentive to the contours of congregational life in the postmodern context.
Admission Requirements
- Applications must be submitted by July 1st in order to begin studies in Fall of that same year. Late applications may be considered pending available space and time frame.
- Admission to the D.Min. program is open to all qualified candidates regardless of race, colour, gender or ethnicity.
- Applicants are required: a. To possess the Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent from an accredited institution. b. To give evidence of the ability to do doctoral level work as indicated by a minimum grade point average of 3.0 in previous graduate study, and personal references. c. To have at least three years of full time ministry experience after the Master of Divinity degree or its equivalent. d. To complete the D.Min. application forms and written statements and submit all other required application documentation. This includes a personal plan for the completion of the D.Min. program.
- Proficiency is required in one biblical language (normally a minimum of four semesters or 12 semester hours of Greek or Hebrew). Ministry leadership studies are also important.
- Applicants who lack the necessary prerequisites may be admitted, but will be required to complete such prerequisites before joining a cohort and beginning D.Min. studies. Applicants accepted into the program have twelve months to begin their first D.Min. course.
- Students for whom English is a second language must attain a TOEFL score of 100 iBT (with 23 minimum in each category of Listening, Reading, Speaking, and Writing) and in addition will be required normally to participate in the English Writing Lab to assist them in the completion of their assignments. International applicants must present proof of sufficient funds to support him or her during at least the first year of study.
- A maximum of 6 semester hours of course work may be transferred from other approved doctoral level programs, providing the course(s) fits the program requirements. Students would still be required to attend all three learning modules, but would be granted auditor status for the credits deemed transferred.
Candidacy Requirements
Candidacy will be granted when the student has demonstrated ability to complete all the degree requirements. These requirements include:
- Removal of prerequisite deficiencies;
- 15 semester hours completed with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 with no grade lower than B-;
- Approval of the dissertation proposal;
- Demonstration of doctoral level writing and research skills;

- At least twenty four semester hours with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale) must be completed at ACTS. Courses with less than a B- grade will not be counted towards the completion of the degree.
